Really fun riff to play, awkward to learn as it does not follow any scales though
This is a great song to play on Acoustic guitar or a clean toned electric. The song is in D Minor. Improvising over it in D Minor can work very well particularly if you play the progression slower than normal tempo.
This is the popular "alien communication" sound effect from the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It's done using natural harmonics (gently placing your finger over the right hand side of the fret and picking).
I'm not sure why I decided to record this video, but the intro riff to "What Makes you Beautiful" is very easy to play and actually doesn't sound half bad. It uses a harmony technique that I use very commonly in my playing (similar to the system of a down video I uploaded a while back).
This is the intro from Smooth Criminal. I believe this version is actually the version Alien Ant Farm used on their version of the track. It's surprisingly tough to get down due to the picking pattern, but if you start slow and use a metronome you should be able to nail it.
Jackson 5 songs always have great riffs/melodies to play along with on guitar and this is no exception. Watch the video carefully to get the strumming pattern as it can be quite confusing. I also recommend you check out KT Tunstall's version of this on YouTube for an alternative strumming pattern that is also very cool to play.
